Rental Policies
Pets are not permitted on any Placid Boat Rentals watercraft, including motor boats, pontoons, ski boats, kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, or any other rental equipment, unless otherwise authorized in writing by Placid Boat Rentals.
This policy is intended to protect the cleanliness, condition, and safety of our fleet while ensuring a comfortable experience for all guests. Pet hair, claws, accidents, odors, and other pet-related damage may require additional cleaning, repairs, or equipment replacement.
Guests who bring a pet aboard any rental equipment without prior written authorization may be subject to additional cleaning fees, repair costs, loss-of-use charges, or other applicable fees in accordance with our Cleaning & Damage Policy.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a clean, safe, and enjoyable fleet for all guests.
This policy helps us maintain a clean, comfortable, and well-kept fleet while minimizing potential damage and ensuring every guest enjoys their time on the water.
Guests are responsible for returning all boats, equipment, and accessories in the same clean condition in which they were received, excluding normal wear associated with responsible use.
Our boats are frequently rented for back-to-back reservations throughout the day. To ensure every guest receives a clean, safe, and well-maintained vessel, excessive cleaning caused by food, beverages, trash, pet hair, mud, fishing equipment, bodily fluids, smoking residue, or other preventable messes may result in additional cleaning charges.
Guests are expected to remove all personal belongings and dispose of their trash using the public waste receptacles located throughout Mirror Lake Drive.
Depending on the condition of the vessel upon return, additional cleaning fees of up to $500 may be assessed to cover the labor, detailing, and operational delays associated with restoring the boat to rentable condition.
Any damage to the boat or its equipment—including, but not limited to, upholstery, flooring, seats, electronics, propellers, hull, accessories, life jackets, anchors, or other supplied equipment—will be the responsibility of the renter and may result in repair or replacement charges in addition to any applicable cleaning fees.
By accepting the rental, the reservation holder acknowledges and agrees to these conditions and authorizes Placid Boat Rentals to assess reasonable cleaning, repair, replacement, and loss-of-use charges when applicable.
Due to the limited availability of our fleet and the high demand for reservations, all bookings are considered final. Once a reservation has been confirmed, we reserve the requested boat exclusively for your party and may decline other rental requests.
For this reason, all reservations are non-refundable and cancellations are not eligible for refunds or credits. If your plans change, we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible. While rescheduling cannot be guaranteed, we will make every reasonable effort to accommodate an alternate date based on availability.
Our rentals operate rain or shine. However, for the safety of our guests and staff, Placid Boat Rentals reserves the right to delay, suspend, shorten, or cancel rentals due to unsafe weather conditions, including but not limited to thunderstorms, lightning, excessive winds, heavy rainfall, or other hazardous conditions.
All weather-related decisions are made solely at the discretion of Placid Boat Rentals. When a rental cannot safely proceed due to weather, guests may be offered the opportunity to reschedule based on availability.
For the safety of our guests and to comply with our insurance requirements, towing activities are strictly prohibited with all Placid Boat Rentals watercraft.
Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to:
- Water skiing
- Wakeboarding
- Tubing
- Wake surfing
- Kneeboarding
- Any activity involving towing a person or object behind the boat
Violation of this policy may result in immediate termination of the rental without refund and may subject the renter to additional fees or liability for any resulting damage or insurance claims.
Rental fees do not include insurance coverage for damage caused during your rental period.
The reservation holder accepts full responsibility for the safe operation of the rented vessel and is financially responsible for any loss, damage, theft, excessive cleaning, or destruction of the boat, its equipment, or third-party property occurring during the rental period, regardless of fault.
Guests are encouraged to consult their personal insurance provider to determine whether coverage may be available under their existing homeowner's, renter's, umbrella, or other applicable insurance policies.
By accepting possession of the rental vessel, the reservation holder acknowledges and agrees to these terms and accepts responsibility for all applicable repair, replacement, cleaning, and liability costs that may arise during the rental period.
